蒼穹 Cielito
Inspiring Story of Change through the Journey of Art by Ines Sun
蒼穹 Cielito was born in a state of unknown during transition. How do we keep our sense of being while the world around us is shifting in a drastic way? We create an evolving place using languages of art and tea. Pause and experience life in a different way to feel the tangible moment of being.
Each of us interpret the sky differently, observing it day to day from where we are. We hope that the place itself, though temporary and subjective, will offer a vast, ever-growing world to look beyond. There, with great hopes, to feel free, sense growth and experience joy. These things we all long for as human beings.
Our first featured artist is Ines Sun. Nurtured in the cultures from both East and West, Ines has been creating art since she came to New York City from Taiwan to study in 1990s.
From abstract to Chinese Impression, line drawing to calligraphy, the works we choose in the space speak themselves for her story embraced by change. Each piece is a living expression of her state of life through art, stand alone yet all shaped and connected by the artist’s free mind. We are fortunate to stand in front her work. The sheer beauty, unpretentious, yet all speaks out loud to the strange world we need to break through.
After traveling around the world and creating with art for years, Ines moved back to NYC in 2010 and now she lives with her family in Brooklyn. As an Asian women artist for her generation, Ines’ work bridges the arts between East and West with new life meanings, provoke new thinking with traditions. Moreover, it is an inspiring story we need continue to tell to inspire and empower more people in the world. Create with change and be friend with unknown.
